Arsene Wenger has set out to radically change football's old rules and has proposed kick-ins to replace throw-ins from the game which has now been backed by football lawmakers IFAB.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino announced the rule change would be tested following discussions at the 136th Annual General Meeting of the International Football Association Board Daily Mail reports.
The new rule is to reduce time-wasting from football as lawmakers try to find more ways to speed up the game to make football more exciting.
Wenger has always maintained throw-ins have been a way for opposing teams to waste time during a football game while also revealing it to also a disadvantage to the attacking team to obtain a throw-in late in a game.
FIFA to scrap biennial World Cup plans
Meanwhile, FIFA might not go ahead with its plans to stage the World Cup after every two years following the heavy backlash the idea received from football’s stakeholders.
FIFA President, Gianni Infantino had distanced the football body from the idea which was proposed by Arsene Wenger back in April during a speech at FIFA's congress in Qatar CGTN News reports.
Wenger had proposed the FIFA World Cup be played every two years rather than once in four years which is the current format but the idea faced serious backlash from major football associations.
