South Africa’s Quinton Fortune Has Sound Advice for Former Side Manchester United and Manager Erick Ten Hag

Quinton Fortune enjoyed great fortunes at Manchester United and wants to see the club return to those former days of glory.

Fortune spent seven seasons at Old Trafford and played alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Roy Keane.

The former Bafana star has now dished out advice to the new manager, Erick ten Hag, on how to rebuild the squad, FARPost reported.

Fortune urged ten Hag to rebuild the side around the right characters and not just big-name players.

“It doesn’t have to be big names. It’s got to be the right characters to fit into the culture of Manchester United. That is the thing to achieve again. It is very important. The humility bit is what has got United so much success,” he said.

Fortune added that United had big characters during his time, but that everyone played with the same level of humility when it came down to business on the field.

Fortune’s playing career spanned 15 years and saw him play in South Africa, England, Italy, Belgium and Spain. He played 173 games during that time for numerous clubs and scored 13 goals, TransferMarkt reported.

After his retirement, Fortune took up coach and recently served as a first-team coach for Reading because the club let him go.

Bafana legend Quinton Fortune to feature in Manchester United vs Liverpool legends match

Earlier Sports Brief reported that Quinton Fortune is back in red.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder will feature for Manchester United against Liverpool next month in a Legends of the North charity match. The fixture will take place at Old Trafford on 21 May.

The announcement was made by the Manchester United Foundation.

Wayne Rooney has been voted as the greatest ever British footballer of all time by fans following his exploits for Manchester United and the England national team.

The 36-year-old holds the record for most goals scored for the Three Lions and the Red Devils as he has 53 goals in 120 international appearances for England and 253 goals for Manchester United.

Rooney defeated other British greats, including Ex-Manchester United icon, George Best, Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish and Wales captain Gareth Bale to the accolade.
