Ghana and Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has finally broken his silence on the Gunners' failure to finish in the top four of the English Premier League.

The North London club threw away the opportunity of placing fourth and qualify for the UEFA Champions League after defeat at Newcastle United in the penultimate game of the season.

Partey, who was watching from the sidelines due injury, believes his teammates did their best but fell short at the crucial moment.

“I have lots of hope in them, they did their best and everybody fought till the end and at the end, it’s football it does happen. We qualified for the World Cup without the Africa Cup and at the end, you’ll never know what will happen. So we have to be grateful, keep working and whatever we want to achieve, we will,” he told JoySports.

Thomas Partey campaign was hugely affected by injuries but anytime he is in the team, Arsenal plays better and have a better win percentage with him in the squad.

The former Atletico Madrid star picked the game against Manchester City at the Emirates as his best game of the campaign.

“For me winning is the most important. It’s important to play well and have dominance in the game but in the end, if you don’t win, you don’t feel happy personally. They were the best team at that moment and we were able to play them at that level. In that end, we had a great season, short in the end but we had a great season,” he added.
