Zsolt Nagy got the home team off to the perfect start when he smashed the ball in from close range at the six-minute mark. Attila Fiola put in a glorious pass which Ádám Szalai headed towards gall. Manuel Neuer beat the ball away but Nagy picked it up and smashed it into the roof of the German net.

The goal appeared to anger the Germans who hit back within three minutes. Nico Schlotterbeck pinged a beautiful long field ball up towards Jonas Hofmann. The midfielder toe-poked it past an onrushing Péter Gulácsi and tapped it into an empty net.

The Germans found their feet after the goal and dominated possession in the rest of the first half. Hungary were reliant on counterattacks but never came close to replicating their early success until just before halftime when Fiola smashed the ball in but Neuer produced a brilliant save to deny him. Germany could have had two or three goals in the first half. Tim Werner blasted one just wide of the goal and was denied another by some brilliant defending. David Raum also saw his beautiful curled effort just fly wide off the post after he cut in from the flank and took a shot.

The second half started much the same as the first half ended; with both sides having good chances. Germany controlled the ball more and had more possession but Hungary looked dangerous when they did have ball at feet.

The game fizzled out a bit as both teams took their foot off the gas. Germany then piled the pressure back on as they searched for a winner. Hofmann could have put Germany in front just after the 70 minute mark as he found himself one on one with the keeper, with Werner on his left.

Hofmann attempted to find the striker instead of going for goal but didn’t put enough on the ball and the chance was gone. Hungary then almost scored immediately after when Martin Ádám failed to get power on his header and it was easily clutched by Neuer.

Neuer was then called in to make two quick saves as Hungary tried to get a win in front of their home fans.

Hansi Flick's Germany hungry for success against Marco Rossi's Hungary team in UEFA Nations League encounter

Hungary have had a promising start to their UEFA Nations League campaign and will look to continue that tonight against Germany.

Marco Rossi’s side beat England in their opening game before suffering a 2-1 defeat to Italy in their next encounter. Italy currently tops the group with four points, followed by Hungary (3), Germany (2) and England (1).

The two sides drew the last time they met in Euro 2020, with both sides scoring twice. Hungary even held the lead twice but were pegged back by Die Mannschaft.

UEFA Nations League: Harry Kane rescues a point for England against Germany

Harry Kane cancelled out Jonas Hoffman's goal to move to within three goals of breaking Wayne Rooney's record. The England captain was on target as his side fought from a goal down to rescue a point from the Allianz Arena.

With both sides looking for their first victories in the competition, it took no time for warning shots to be sounded as the game began with some high end to end action.

Despite a few other half-chances, the game ended all square with England remaining rooted at the bottom of the log after two games.
