Manchester United are ready to rival fellow English Premier League side, Tottenham for the signature of Villareal defender, Pau Torres this summer.
The Red Devils are on a mission to rebuild their squad after hiring Dutch manager, Erik ten Hag from Ajax and have promised to finance some top transfers for the coach.
Manchester United are now prepared to offer Villareal £43m for Pau Torres, who has had a phenomenal 2021/22 season in the Spanish La Liga, The Sun reports.
United will face stiff competition from Spurs, however as the North London team has also marked the defender as a key transfer target this summer and will be seeking to make a move.
Spurs are willing to arm-twist Villareal into a deal by offering a player plus cash offer to the La Liga side with the addition of Champions League football which the Red Devils cannot offer.

Meanwhile, Frankie De Jong could be reunited with former coach, Erik ten Hag at Manchester United for the 2022/23 football league season.
The Dutch midfielder who played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax has now agreed to a deal to join Manchester United from Barcelona next season Forbes reports.
The Red Devils are expected to wrap up an €80m deal for De Jong in a matter of days after the midfielder gave a green light for the transfer to go ahead.
