- Chelsea are in the market actively looking for attackers as Tuchel and new owner Todd Boehly look to bridge the gap between them and Liverpool and Manchester City
Manchester City star Raheem Sterling is reportedly seeking assurances from Thomas Tuchel that he will be guaranteed play time should he choose to join Chelsea.
Sterling’s future at Manchester City is shrouded in doubt, with rumours rife that he will seek a move away this summer. Chelsea and Real Madrid have emerged as potential destinations for the England international.
Real Madrid are looking to boost their squad after missing out on Kylian Mbappe. The squad is also lighter after Gareth Bale and Isco Alcoron left the club as free agents. Chelsea, meanwhile, are actively looking for attackers as Tuchel looks to solve his goal-scoring conundrum.
The Daily Mail now reports that Sterling wants guarantees that he will be part of Tuchel’s starting eleven. The 27-year-old has been in and out of Pep Guardiola’s squad this season. And with the arrival of Erling Haaland and Julain Alvarez, his minutes on the pitch are likely to be limited further.
Sterling scored 17 goals across 47 games in all competitions. He could provide competition to Chelsea’s wingers, who have, more often than not, fluffed their lines. The Blues are ready to fork out as much as 60 million euros for a player who has only one year left on his City contract.
Should he join Chelsea, this will be the third big club that Sterling plays for in England. He was in Liverpool’s books before joining City in 2015. The forward wants to play regularly with a World Cup spot on Gareth Southgate’s side in his mind.
