Portugal have extended their unbeaten run in the UEFA Nations League following their 2-0 comfortable win over the Czech Republic on Thursday night, June 9.

The Selecao went into the clash off a fine run of form, having won once and drawn once in two of their Group B fixtures.

The Czech Republic were equally in better shape, collecting four points from their opening matches to sit joint-top with Portugal.

However, they were unable to match Portugal's quality and intensity when the two teams locked horns at José Alvalade Stadium.

How Portugal downed the Czech Republic in Nations League clash

Portugal, who hosted the epic clash, were dominant from the blow of the whistle but were unable to make their possession count.

The Czech Republic were lucky not to concede in the opening exchanges as they kept the hosts at bay.

However, two quick-fire goals from Joao Cancelo and Goncalo Guedes shortly after the half-hour mark were enough to down an otherwise stubborn opponent.

Cancelo broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute, firing home with his right foot from Bernado Silva's well-placed pass.

Guedes doubled the advantage five minutes later after Silva placed a killer pass in his way.

Efforts by the visitors to score at least a consolation during the remainder of the encounter proved futile as Fernando Santos' men held on to claim a convincing win.

Morocco silence South Africa in AFCON qualifier

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Morocco left it late to secure victory against South Africa in Group K of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Lyle Foster gave South Africa an early lead and Ronwen Williams kept South Africa in front during the first half.

Youssef En-Nesyri levelled matters for Morocco and Ayoub El Kaabi scored a later goal to deny Bafana a draw.
