Followers of the English Premier League have taken to social media to register their displeasure following the omission of Heung-min Son from the PFA Premier League Team of the Season.
The South Korean and Tottenham Hotspur forward enjoyed a stellar campaign, capping his season with 23 goals which earned him the Golden Boot award alongside Mohamed Salah.
His remarkable feat did not go unnoticed as the 29-year-old Spurs attacker was given the Cheongnyong Medal by President Yoon Seok-yeol before South Korea's friendly against five-time World champions, Brazil.
Despite becoming the first Asian to win the Golden Boot award, he was snubbed for a spot in the PFA Team of the Year.
His exclusion from the 2021-22 Team of the Year has raised eyebrows, especially from ardent followers of the English top-flight, who have not shied away from registering their discontent with the development.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Liverpool pair Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane earned a spot in the PFA 2021-22 Team of the Season.
Despite missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City in dramatic circumstances, Liverpool had the highest number of representation in the PFA Team of the Season, with six players.
Alisson Becker got the nod ahead of Man City's shot-stopper and compatriot Ederson Moraes in between the sticks while Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold was chosen in the right-back position also PFA Player of the Year nominee Virgil Van Dijk partners newly-signed Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger.
