Ecuador could miss out on a 4th World Cup appearance when the 2022 edition in Qatar kicks off this November as FIFA may remove the South American nation over allegations of cheating.

Chile had filed a complaint to the World football governing body that Ecuador defender, Byron Castillo is originally a Colombian and therefore is ineligible to represent Ecuador.

According to a report via the Daily Mail, Chile claims Ecuador defender Byron Castillo falsified his birth documents to be able to represent La Tri in the World Cup qualifiers.

Chile also claims to have proof that Castillo was born in Tumaco, Colombia, in 1995, rather than General Villamil Playas, Ecuador, as stated on his official paperwork.

FIFA has already launched an investigation into the claims made by Chile and could expel Ecuador from the 2022 World Cup if they are found guilty.

Canada players end strike after protesting over World Cup bonus

Canada players have ended their strike to continue preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup after a row with the country’s Football Association over money PM News Nigeria reports.

The team, who had qualified for the World Cup finals for the first time since 1986, had to go on strike as a protest in a disagreement over prize money for Qatar 2022.

The players requested between 75 and 100 percent of the money, according to the Canadian association, while a letter from the players showed they requested only 40 percent.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported the Super Eagles of Nigeria have lost their second friendly match in the United States after they were defeated 1-0 by South American side Ecuador.

Nigeria who earlier lost 2-1 to Mexico at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, targeted a win against Ecuador at the 25,000 capacity Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.

However, it was La Tri who opened the scoring as early as the 3rd minute courtesy of a fine header from Pervis Estupinan, who scored from close range.
