"I’ve Suffered High Blood Pressure": Al Ahly Coach Pitso Mosimane Talks About Health Struggles While in Egypt

Coaching Africa's most successful club has taken a toll on Pitso Mosimane's health.

The 57-year-old revealed that he developed high blood pressure in his time coaching Al Ahly out in Egypt. Mosimane took over the helm of the club in late 2020, winning two CAF Champions League titles, the Super Cup and the Egyptian Cup.

Despite this success, he has been the subject of unrelenting criticism from sections of the club's former players, as was reported on KingFut.

According to FARPost, in an interview with Prime Sports With Mahlatse,

“I don’t know how I’m doing it; thank God I’m still there. It’s a difficult environment Mahlatse, and it is tiring. It takes a lot of my energy. Coaching has a lot of stresses and sicknesses – I’ve suffered from those things – I must tell you the truth. I’ve suffered from fatigue, and I’ve suffered from high blood pressure.

"It’s the nature of the business; it’s the nature of the club. “It’s stress, you don’t sleep well. It’s not all about the social media and pressure of supporters; it’s also about your players – you want them to do this, and they don’t do it. It’s like that at every club. Some players fit in, and some don’t."

Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane believes that South Africa has no business not qualifying for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast.

As reported on Sports Brief, Bafana Bafana has to get past the number two-ranked team on the continent in Morocco and unfancied Liberia in Group K.

The lessening of the workload getting to West Africa next year in June is down to Zimbabwe being thrown out of the group by CAF because of problems which have beset the football federation of the country.
