Partey Opens Arms to Lamptey, Inaki Williams and Other Players in the Diaspora, Says Ghana Will Need Them

• Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is open to the idea of Ghanaian players in the diaspora switching their allegiance to play for the Black Stars
• Brighton's Tariq Lamptey, speed merchant Hudson-Odoi, and Athletic Bilbao duo Inaki Williams and Nico Williams are reported to be nearing a change of nationality to Ghana
• Partey, who is the vice-captain of the Black Stars, was recently installed as a chief in his hometown, Manya Krobo while on vacation in Ghana

Deputy skipper of the Black Stars has warmly embraced the pursuit of the Ghana Football Association in luring Ghanaian players born in the diaspora to switch international allegiance.

The football federation has been on a rigorous chase for players born in the diaspora of Ghanaian descent with Tariq Lamptey, Eddie Nketiah, the Williams brothers and Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi top of their list.

Wading into the discussion of onboarding players in the diaspora, Thomas Partey, who was recently installed as the Development Chief in Manya Krobo, believes their inclusion will improve the quality of the Black Stars.

“Everybody has their career, you can’t push somebody to do something they are not ready to do so if they come, they are welcome because we really need them, we need all the players – everyone ready to play for Ghana, we need them and we are very much happy to receive whoever is ready to play for Ghana,” Thomas Partey told JoySports.

The 28-year-old midfielder is currently recuperating from an injury sustained in April, forcing him to miss Ghana's recent 2023 AFCON qualifiers and pre-World Cup tournament.

Partey installed as chief in his hometown

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Thomas Teye Partey has been installed as Development Chief of his hometown, Manya Krobo, a town famous for its glass bead-making in the Eastern region of Ghana.

The Arsenal midfield linchpin was honoured in a ceremony by the Konor (Paramount Chief) of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area, Nene Sakite II for his football exploits, projecting the image of Manya Krobo.

In a post on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, Partey arrived at the gathering where he will be enstooled amid fanfare and celebrations.
