  • Todd Boehly will meet with Thomas Tuchel to discuss whether to send wantaway striker Romelu Lukaku on loan to Inter Milan
  • The relationship between Chelsea and Lukaku has deteriorated after the striker did an unauthorized interview in December
  • It is understood that should Boehly reject the loan deal, Lukaku is ready to ask for an in-person meeting with the American to discuss alternatives

New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is set to meet head coach Thomas Tuchel to approve or reject Romelu Lukaku’s loan deal to Inter Milan. Lukaku has set his eyes on returning to Milan after a troublesome spell at Chelsea.

Lukaku, signed a five-year deal when he rejoined Chelsea earlier this summer but both parties are said to be ready to work out an amicable divorce.

The Belgian has struggled for game time this season with young striker Kai Havertz continually preferred ahead of him. He further stirred issues in a controversial interview where he said he wasn’t particularly happy with Thomas Tuchel’s tactics.

This drew the ire of Chelsea’s supporters and Tuchel subsequently dropped him from the next Chelsea game. The 29-year-old apologized but failed to regain his place in the Chelsea team until the last three games of the season where he scored three goals.

The Daily Mail reports that Inter Milan are not in a position to but Lukaku on a permanent basis and a loan deal could be more feasible. Lukaku thrived at Inter Milan where he formed a devastating attacking combination with Lautaro Martinez as they won the Serie A title.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Boehly will sit down with Tuchel either on Wednesday or Thursday to approve the deal provided it is financially viable. The report further says that should the American reject the move, Lukaku will ask for an in-person meeting with the new Chelsea owner.

Tuchel is seemingly planning for life post-Lukaku with reports emerging that the Blues are interested in RB Leipzig’s Cristopher Nkunku and Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele.

Chelsea urged by former striker to sign Romelu Lukaku

Sports Brief previously reported that Chelsea directors had been urged by their former player Tony Cascarino to make sure that they sign Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski before the start of next EPL season.

Tony Cascarino feels the signing of Robert Lewandowski would be of great help for the Premier League giants as he stated that the Polish striker can replace Romelu Lukaku.

Last season in all competitions, Romelu Lukaku was unable to give his best to Chelsea fans due to injuries and lack of fitness, but despite that, the Blues still finished amongst the top four on the final table.
