- Arsenal are however set to fend off other clubs by offering Saka a new long term contract
Manchester City have upped their efforts to acquire talented Arsenal star Bukayo Saka in a stunning new twist.
Saka, was instrumental for Arsenal last season as he helped the Gunners secure a Europa League finish, narrowly missing out on a Champions League spot to arch-rivals Tottenham.
The 20-year old has already proven himself to be a world-class forward, and his performances have attracted interest from the Premier League Champions, who are now monitoring developments regarding his future.
As reported by Daily Mail, Manchester City now joins Liverpool in closely following up on Saka’s situation, with a potential bid on the horizon.
A move away from Arsenal this summer looks highly unlikely, but Manchester City’s interest in the youngster comes at an interesting time, as Arsenal are considering tying the England star down with a new long-term contract.
His current deal contains an option year, which would see him stay at the club until 2024, at least.
Arsenal were keen on avoiding a situation where Saka’s deal entered its final two years, and the two parties were set to enter into negotiations after the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
With every factor considered, Saka’s price tag is likely to be too hefty for his admirers, especially for this summer.
A recent report published by CIES Football Observatory revealed that Saka ranks in the top 20 of the most valuable players in world football.
In the Premier League, the England star comes only behind Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Luis Diaz, Ruben Dias, Mason Mount and Jadon Sancho.
