- Salah was part of the Egyptian side that began their campaign to qualify for next year's Africa Cup of Nations on a winning note by beating Guinea
- The Liverpool forward will however sit out of Egypt's next game when they face Ethiopia as confirmed by his head coach Ehab Galal
Egypt national team head coach Ehab Galal has revealed that Mohamed Salah played an entire match while injured. Salah was on duty as Egypt beat Guinea in the opening round of the Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) qualifiers.
Salah who also doubles up as the captain of his national side lasted the entire length of the game as a late Mostafa Mohamed goal secured all the three points for Egypt.
His head coach Galal has now revealed that he was suffering from a groin injury before the match as quoted by Kingfut.
Salah was suffering from an injury and played through it. He rejected Liverpool’s request for an X-ray before the game and will now undergo it.
The injury might have been picked during Liverpool's loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
This was Galal's first game in charge after taking over from Carlos Quieroz earlier this year. Queiroz led the country to the AFCON finals before losing out to Senegal. He then failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup as the same same opponents prevailed after a two-legged tie.
Galal will now miss his talisman for their game against Ethiopia. The game will be played in Malawi as Ethiopia doesn't have CAF-approved stadiums.
