Mohammed Kudus scored for the second game running as the Black Stars of Ghana were held to a 1-1 draw by the Central African Republic in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The game, which was played in Angola, was marred by Jonathan Mensah's injury in the second half following a collision with a Central African Republic defender.

The defender had to be rushed to the hospital after a lengthy spell on the pitch receiving treatment from the team's medics.

Ghana started the game brightly and after just 17 minutes broke the deadlock through Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus. The Ajax star curled home after a brilliant build up involving Osman Bukari.

But the hosts levelled with four minutes to half time after Karl Namnganda blasted home with a ferocious strike. Namnganda out-paced Amartey and Jonathan Mensah before firing past Lawrence Ati-Zigi.

The second half failed to produce any goal but the game was affected by Mensah's injury which stalled play for many minutes.

Mohammed Kudus scores as Ghana beat Madagascar in Cape Coast

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that youngsters Mohammed Kudus and Felix Afena-Gyan scored in quick succession before Osman Bukari netted late as Ghana made light work of Madagascar to start the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on a winning note.

The Black Stars got off to a bright start and should have broken the deadlock after three minutes when Jordan Ayew saw his low strike go inches wide.

Ten minutes later Fatawu Issahaku fired from outside the box and missed narrowly before combining with Afena-Gyan two minutes later, but the AS Roma forward's strike was deflected out for a corner kick.
