Karim Benzema has scooped the Onze d'Or award for the 2021-22 European season following an outstanding campaign with Real Madrid.

The Real Madrid attacker beat Liverpool's Sadio Mané and want-away Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski to the award presented by French magazine Onze Mondial.

Real Madrid confirmed their forward's receipt of the award on their official website, as Benzema smiled with his accolade.

"Karim Benzema has been honoured by French magazine Onze Mondial with the Onze d'Or award for the best player of the 2021/22 season. The striker, who finished as top scorer in the most recent edition of the Champions League and LaLiga, received 37.2% of the votes, ahead of Mané (36.1%) and Lewandowski (10.6%). The Frenchman has collected the award for the second year in a row," wrote the club.
