Top European clubs chasing Lautaro Martinez have been handed a major transfer blow. Martinez has expressed his desire to remain at Inter Milan next season.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs interested in signing the Argentine international. But now, it seems they will have to dig deep to convince him to quit Inter Milan this summer.
Martinez was speaking after helping Argentina beat Italy in the Finalissima at the Wembley Stadium on Wednesday night. He was instrumental as he scored one goal and assisted another as Argentina strolled to a comfortable victory.
Football London now reports that Martinez has no intention of leaving Inter Milan.
My plan is clear, I really want to stay at Inter next season.
Chelsea had harboured thoughts of partnering Martinez with Romelu Lukaku. The duo had formed a prolific partnership during their time at Inter Milan where they won the Serie A title.
Thomas Tuchel will be keen to get a new attacker next season as his side continues to waste numerous goalscoring opportunities.
Arsenal meanwhile lost Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona in January. They finished the season with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazzete. The former is understood to be ready to sign a new five-year contract after finishing the season strongly. Mikel Arteta is also looking at signing Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.
Antonio Conte on the other hand could be intrigued by the prospect of reassembling his Inter Milan squad. He has already acquired Ivan Perisic. Adding Martinez to an already formidable attack line of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son could make them serious Premier League contenders.
