  • Former Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has left Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia after just 34 days as coach of the club
  • The veteran gaffer is leaving the club after a group of fans incited racist chants at players in the game between CSKA and Botev Plodiv
  • Alan Pardew has managed several English Premier League clubs including Crystal Palace and Southampton

Alan Pardew has left his job as coach of Bulgarian outfit CSKA Sofia after black players in the team were subjected to racist abuse.

The former Crystal Palace manager, who took over as coach in April, decided to end his short-term spell with the club after banana's were hurled at some players.

The English gaffer confirmed his resignation in a statement posted on the club's website. He is leaving the club together with assistant Alex Dyer.

"Unfortunately, my time here is over," read a statement on the club website.
"The events before and after the match with Botev were not acceptable for me, for my assistant Alex Dyer, or for our players.
"The reason no-one gave an interview after the match was that we were all very outraged by the situation that had escalated," the statement added.
"Our players decided to play only out of loyalty and to protect the club. The small group of organised racist fans who tried to sabotage this match is not what I want to lead and represent the team.
"This is not the right path for the benefit of CSKA, because such a club deserves much more."

Alan Pardew previously managed Crystal Palace, Southampton and West Bromwich Albion in England.

Gareth Southgate reveals what he wants to do at Qatar 2022

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that England manager Gareth Southgate seems to be putting the Euro 2020 final match disappointment behind him stating that he hopes to lead the Three Lions to next year’s World Cup in Qatar.

Sky Sports are reporting that FA CEO Mark Bullingham earlier hinted that the manager will be handed an extended contract which will keep him in job until 2024.

Southgate saw Italy snap the Euro 2020 title after the Azzurri defeated his side 3-2 via penalties after the game ended 1-1 after 120 minutes.
