Snubbed Ghana forward Bernard Tekpetey took time to say prayers for the Black Stars ahead of their opening AFCON qualifier against Madagascar on Wednesday night.

The 24-year-old, who failed to make it to the Black Stars team for the games against Madagascar and the Central African Republic, wished the team luck as they prepare for tonight's game.

In a video posted on social media, spotted by Sports Brief, Tekpetey was seriously praying for the Black Stars.

The former Schalke forward is known to be very religious and that was evident when he appeared on GTV Sports Plus' Studio 5, he took the opportunity to pray for the players.

The Black Stars will host Madagascar at the Cape Coast stadium before travelling to the Central African Republic for the second Group E game.

Tekpetey had an outstanding season in the Bulgarian topflight league. He scored 10 goals and provided 12 assists as Ludogorets Razgrad won the title.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Bernard Tekpetey has been named the Bulgarian First League player of the month for April after his good run of games.

The Ludogorets forward netted five goals and provided four assists as the Bulgarian giants successfully defended their title.

The 24-year-old Ghanaian beat competition from CSKA's Ivaylo Chochev and teammate Igor Plastun to win the award.
