Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has made it clear that he would love to continue playing in the Serie A after the expiry of his loan deal with Fiorentina.
Torreira spent the 2021/22 season on loan with the Italian giants, where he established himself as an integral squad player.
Despite Fiorentina having an option of making Torreira's stay with them permanent, that is yet t to materialise.
Metro UK reports the midfielder's agent, Pablo Bentancur, was quoted saying that Arsenal have rejected Fiorentina's attempt to lower the €15 million (£12.6m) right-to-buy option.
However, Fiorentina's president Rocco Commisso hit back at Bentancur's suggestion that his club are to blame for a permanent deal not yet materialising.
Lucas Torreira discusses his future
While discussing his football future, Torreira insisted that his desire his to remain at Fiorentina, but was quick to point out that a deal has to be reached between the relevant parties.
The Uruguay international further took time to assess his loan spell at Artemio Franchi Stadium, describing it as "a positive year."
"My intention is to stay at Fiorentina," Torreira told FanPage in Italy.
"But it will be necessary for the club to find an agreement with Arsenal. I’m perfectly fine in Florence. I am fine in Italy.
"It was a very positive year, even if we failed to qualify for Europa League," he added.
