Heung-min Son has labelled Neymar as the best player in the world. The Tottenham Hotspur forward lavished praise on the Brazilian ahead of their meeting on Thursday.
South Korea welcome Brazil at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in an international friendly. Brazil are currently the top-ranked nation by FIFA and Son did not shy away from saying that he aspires to be like their talismanic forward.
The decision might come as a surprise to many footballers given that Neymar, despite his enormous talent, has been constantly outshone by other players. This season, Karim Benzema, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are among the frontrunners for the Ballon d'Or.
The Daily Express quotes the South Korean saying:
Neymar is the best player in the world and I think I am working hard to be like him.
The 29-year-old also wanted his teammates to match Brazil’s high standards when they clash in Seoul later this week.
Brazil has a lot of really good players and I think if our players do their best to show what we have to show in the game, then we can have a good result. Our players are also very much looking forward to the match itself and I think the most important thing is to play a good game by putting all our efforts into the match to show our best in front of a lot of fans.
South Korea have also lined up friendlies against Chile and Paraguay as they continue with their preparations for the FIFA World Cup. They have been drawn in Group H where they will face heavyweights Portugal and Uruguay and African giants Black Stars.

FootballLiverpool were considering a bid for Heung-min Son
Sports Brief had earlier reported that Liverpool were preparing a major transfer swoop for Heung-min Son. Jurgen Klopp was said to be eyeing a move for Son should Tottenham not qualify for the Champions League.
But with Antonio Conte masterminding a late surge that saw Spurs finish fourth, Liverpool’s chances of getting the Korean are now dimmed.
Son could have been tempted to move away to a club that offers Champions League football. Liverpool, meanwhile, are desperate to sign another attacker with the futures of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in doubt.
