Robert Lewandowski has put top European clubs on red alert after he announced that his career with Bayern Munich is over.

The Polish attacker has widely been linked with a summer departure from the Bundesliga club, with Barcelona and Chelsea believed to be the leading contenders for his signature.

Daily Mail reports the 33-year-old has now given his clearest indication on his future with Bayern, suggesting he has no intention to continue with the club.

Speaking while on international duty with Poland, Lewandowski revealed he has made his decision to quit as he exuded hope that Bayern will not stop him from leaving.

"My era at Bayern is over. I don't see any possibility to continue playing for this club anymore," Daily Mail quoted the striker saying.
"Bayern’s a serious club and I believe they won’t keep me, I don't want to play there anymore. A transfer is the best solution. I hope they don't stop me," he added.

Robert Lewandowski's career at Bayern Munich

Lewandoski has had an illustrious career with Bayern since joining them eight years ago from Borussia Dortmund.

The Poland international is widely regarded as a club icon at Allianz Arena, thanks to his goalscoring prowess that has seen him net 344 goals in 374 appearances.

He has won a Bundesliga title in the eight years he has spent with the Bavarians as well as the Champions League trophy in 2020.

Marcelo announces Real Madrid exit

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Marcelo got emotional as he confirmed he will be departing Real Madrid this summer after 15 years with the club.

The Champions League final in Paris on Saturday, May 28, was the left-back's last match in a Real Madrid shirt.

Marcelo won a total of 25 trophies during his spell at Santiago Bernabeu, with his last being the Champions League on Saturday night.
