  • Liverpool Football Club and the city it represents did not let the UEFA Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid dampen the collective mood
  • The Reds conducted an an open-top bus parade throughout Merseyside to celebrate the club's Carabao Cup and FA Cup victories
  • They were the first time in English men's football history to play in every match of every competition they participated in since four trophies could be won by a single team

Liverpool FC was not going to let the crushing disappointment of losing the UEFA Champions League final ruin a largely jovial mood in Merseyside.

Jurgen Klopp and his side celebrated this season's FA Cup and League Cup wins with an open-top bus parade through the city, less than 24 hours after the loss in Paris on Saturday night.

As reported on SPORTSBible, the Premier League runners-up, who finished one point behind champions Manchester City after a dramatic final day, have played 63 matches in total during the 2021/22 campaign, picking up just four defeats all season. This was the first time in history that a Premier League team has played all the games in every competition that it can play in, as per TalkSport.

Both the men's and women's team buses eventually make their way to the city centre, where thousands of fans welcomed them, with Klopp seen with a beer in one hand and the Carabao Cup in the other. The women's side won the Women's Championship in April, gaining promotion to the Women's Super League, as per BBC Sport.

Klopp said before the parade:

"The difference between 2018 and now is that I see us coming again. In 2018, I wished it but I couldn't know. But these boys are really competitive. They have an incredible attitude. It's a fantastic group and we will go again, definitely.
"And tomorrow, we will celebrate the season. It's good that we don't have to do that now immediately. But after a night's sleep and maybe another speech from me, the boys will realize how special what they did was."

Sadio Mane looks sad in Liverpool’s trophy parade as Senegal striker set to depart Anfield this summer

Sadio Mane had a gloomy look when Liverpool had an open-top bus parade to celebrate their trophies won with fans at the city centre.

As reported on Sports Brief, the 30-year-old Senegalese forward whose Liverpool future at Anfield is uncertain cut a dejected look as his teammates celebrated alongside the Reds supporters Liverpool’s League Cup and FA Cup successes.

Mane has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich this summer after six years with Liverpool.
