  • The tension between authorities in the French Ligue 1 and Spanish La Liga seems to have heightened after Kylian Mbappe signed a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain
  • Mbappe signed a new three-year contract at PSG last week thereby rejecting an approach from Spanish side Real Madrid
  • La Liga president Javier Tebas had described the deal as an insult to football and had revealed plans to report PSG to the European Union

Kylian Mbappe’s decision to remain with Paris Saint-Germain has generated serious enmity between authorities in the French Ligue 1 and Spanish La Liga.

The 23-year-old World Cup winner had been touted to join Real Madrid but had a change of heart and re-signed with PSG which infuriated La Liga Present Javier Tebas.

The La Liga Boss had described Mbappe’s new PSG deal as an insult to football and threatened to report the French club to UEFA, tax authorities in France and the European Union.

According to a report via Sky Sports, French Professional League President, Vincent Labrune has now responded to Javier Tebas in an open letter and described the La Liga President’s comments as unacceptable.

"Your attacks on Ligue 1 and one of our clubs Paris St-Germain, and one of our players Kylian Mbappe, are based around your own interpretation of financial unsustainability and competitive imbalance, which you repeatedly attribute to Ligue 1 and one of our clubs.
"The fact that you publicly and repeatedly take this position against Ligue 1 on this topic and denigrate our league and our clubs is both unacceptable and manifestly false."

Javier Tebas had announced earlier this week that the UEFA complaint against PSG would be filed by Friday, May 27.

Mbappe to control 100 percent of his image right in new PSG

Meanwhile, details of Kylian Mbappe’s new Paris Saint-Germain deal are starting to emerge after the striker chose to remain with the French giants rather than push for a move to Real Madrid.

According to the Daily Mirror, the 22-year-old forward is set to have total control of his image rights in the deal signed with the newly crowned French champions.

Mbappe is also believed to be earning €50m per annum, which is in addition to his bonus of €180m for staying at the Parc des Princes.

Kylian Mbappe under attack in Spain

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Spanish reporter Jose Felix Diaz has blasted Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe for agreeing to a new deal with the French club, saying the striker is not a sportsman.

After months of speculations surrounding his future, the Frenchman has decided to extend his stay with PSG as opposed to a move to the Spanish capital.

News that Mbappe has renewed his contract with the Parisians has left the whole of La Liga in disarray as many had tipped the 23-year-old to join Real Madrid ahead of next season.
