Alexander Djiku's absence will be a major blow for the Black Stars ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month.

The in-form defender is reportedly on the radar of several clubs and was dropped to allow him to sort out his future ahead of the summer Transfer window.

Djiku, who was born in Montpellier, France, decided to represent Ghana in 2020 and has since been a stalwart in the Black Stars.

He was the brightest spot in Ghana's disastrous Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year in Cameroon.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana defender Alexander Djiku has become the Ghanaian with the most appearances in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday.

The Black Stars defender played a key role as Strasbourg edged Lens 1-0 to climb up to fourth place in the French top flight.

A neatly converted penalty by Ludovic Ajorque was enough to hand an all-important victory for the home side at the Stade de la Meinau.
