Gabadinho Mhango has found himself a new home hours after reports emerged that he and Orlando Pirates had agreed to part ways.
The Malawian striker will call Durban home from next season, turning out in the colours of Amazulu. The 29-year-old Mhango had been riding the bench at the Buccaneers ever since Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids were installed as co-coaches in August last year.
According to iDiski Times, Usuthu president Sandile Zungu said that he had agreed to something of a swap deal with Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza, with Amazulu defender and captain Thapelo Xoki going the other way. Zungu also confirmed that interim coach Brandon Truter would now become the permanent head coach ahead of next season.

“We have 30 players not including MDC, we will release 13 and some of them are running out of contract, we won’t renew, we will sign eight players and already spoken with some.
“Dr Irvin Khoza did contact me personally about Thapelo Xoki and we’ve spoken, i respect him for the way he handled it, so Xoki will leave us, he played his last game yesterday and Gabadinho Mhango is joining us.”
Amazulu has acquired the signature of Orlando Pirates striker Gabadinho Mhango in an unexpected but bold move.
As reported on Sports Brief, the club is also expected to confirm bringing in another attacker in the form JDR Stars striker Ishmael Vadi. The Zimbabwean Vadi struck nine times for the side in the GladAfrica Championship this past season.
A source close to the deal said that Pirates and Usuthu have finalised all details of the transfer that will see Mhango wear the green of AmaZulu next season.
