Belgium-based Ghanaian attacker Francis Amuzu has explained why he prefers Belgium to the West African nation.
Amuzu, born in Accra, Ghana, has been on the radar of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as the football federation makes frantic efforts seeks to beef up the Black Stars squad ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
However, the 22-year-old stated in no uncertain terms of representing Belgium ahead of the country of his birth, inadvertently ending the GFA's aspirations of luring him to feature for the Black Stars.
“They call my broker every day, but I keep it off,” Amuzu told Het Nieuwsblad as quoted by Ghanasoccernet.
“Look, I was born in Ghana and when I'm there, I feel at home there because of the African atmosphere. My sporty heart lies with Belgium. With Belgium you can go very far at such a World Cup, with Ghana there is a real chance that you will be out quickly.”
Despite struggling for game time, Amuzu revealed he has a plan to get himself into selection into the Belgium national team.
“I have a career plan and we'll see. I had hoped that I would already have more playing minutes at Anderlecht, but then I also have to show myself.”
Amuzu has nine goals and three assists in 37 appearances this season for Anderlecht.

The 22-year-old bagged a hat-trick as the Purple and White thumped Royal Antwerp to get their first win of the Championship play-offs.
In a stunning video posted on Social Media by Anderlecht, players of Anderlecht celebrated the youngster as he walked into the dressing room.
