Popular broadcaster British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has apologized after the words ‘Manchester United are rubbish’ appeared on their screens.
Viewers of BBC were on Tuesday treated to those words that appeared on the bottom of the screen. BBC has since moved in to take back the words, blaming it on a ‘trainee error.’
The Mirror reports that an anchor of the media station took to air to apologize unreservedly over the gaffe. The anchor said it was as a result of a trainee writing random things that weren’t meant for broadcast.
Many fans will argue that the statement bears a little bit of truth, but BBC sought to preserve its image as an impartial broadcaster.
Manchester United have endured a torrid season. They finished with 58 points, which is the lowest ever point haul for any team. The Red Devils had to change managers mid-season after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer delivered underwhelming results.
His replacement, albeit on an interim basis, Ralf Rangnick didn’t fare well either. United will now participate in next season’s UEFA Europa League under new manager Erik Ten Hag.
The former Ajax manager will begin his reign at Old Trafford knowing that a massive overhaul is expected at the club. Close to six players are expected to leave the club on free transfers or mutual consent.
Ten Hag has been charged with the immediate responsibility of steering United back to its glory days. The United hierarchy and fans want to see their side compete for honours next season. They haven’t won a trophy in over five years.
