Ghanaian midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has revealed how a promising career almost got thrown away following his lavish lifestyle as a young footballer.
The Hertha Berlin star recovered from a distractive way of living to become one of the best Ghanaian players abroad, but feels he could have been better if he had not gone through that patch in his life.
According to Ghana's 2010 World Cup star, he once bought three cars in a day but realize he was young and stupid at that time.
"It’s true," he replied about a question of him buying three cars in a day, as quoted by Daily Mail.
"I still have a picture at home of me standing in-front of three cars and a big house and I’m standing there like I’m 50 Cent. I look at it sometimes and I say: look how stupid you were," he added.
"‘At first you don’t think that anything is going wrong. You’re dropped to the second team but you see your money coming in and you say: “okay, I get my fun somewhere else”. Girls, nightclubs, friends, fake friends."
But Boateng overcame his early challenges and went on to play for some of the best clubs in the world, including AC Milan and Barcelona.
The experienced midfielder helped Hertha Berlin survive the drop on Monday night after starring in their 2-0 win in the Bundesliga promotion play-offs against Hamburg on Monday night.
