- Following the incident, the RSPCA stormed the apartment to remove the two cats and now the Zouma brothers have been charged to court
Following the footage that showed Kurt Zouma kicking and slapping a cat back in February, the West Ham United defender is set to appear in court.
Zouma is expected to arrive in court on Tuesday after the 27-year-old was accused of three offences under the Animal Welfare Act.
It was gathered that his brother Yoan who has a contract with Dagenham and Redbridge, has also been accused of two offences.
Independent reports that the first hearing for both brothers will take place at the Thames Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Recall that after the footage went viral, the RSPCA stormed Zouma’s apartment to remove the two cats.
The Frenchman will also be facing two counts bordering on “unnecessary suffering” as well as one count of failing to protect the cat from “pain suffering, injury or disease”.
His brother Yoan has also been accused of two counts of “aiding, abetting, counselling or procuring” Kurt to commit the offence of causing unnecessary suffering to the cat.
West Ham United chiefs want justice served
Meanwhile, West Ham United chiefs have reportedly turned their backs against Kurt Zouma and they have demanded that the Frenchman be prosecuted for kicking his cat in what was a disturbing video.
In February, Kurt Zouma was spotted kicking his pet inside his mansion with no specific reason given for his act even as his two cats were later taken away from him.
Zouma later admitted and said he was deeply sorry for his actions and claimed his two Bengal cats are fine and healthy as well as loved and cherished.
