Milan were pushed to the last day of fixtures by city rivals Inter Milan before ending the 11-year title wait.
Ahead of the final round of games, Milan led their city rivals by two points and had to win their last fixture against Sassuolo, which the Rossoneri won in grand style.
A brace from ex-Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud and a strike from Ivorian midfield linchpin Franck Kessie were enough to seal the Scudetto for AC Milan.
What were Zlatan's remarks after winning the Scudetto?
“I will continue playing if I feel good physically. My decision will be made soon, I had many physical problems but I will decide soon”.
“This Scudetto is for Raiola. It’s the first title I win without Mino by my side”.
Ex-Chelsea stars help AC Milan break 11-year title drought
Former Chelsea stars Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori were AC Milan's match heroes as they inspired the Italian giants to their first Serie A title in 11 years.
AC Milan were in dire need of a win in their final Serie A match of the season against Sassuolo to stand any chance of clinching the league title ahead of rivals, Inter Milan.
Only two points separated the Milan giants into the final round of fixtures of the season, with Inter left hoping for a slip up in Milan's clash with Sassuolo to have a likelihood of retaining the crown.
