Tammy Abraham Goes Into Serie a History Books with Unique Record After Brace vs Torino

Tammy Abraham set a unique record on Friday, May 20 as he became the highes-scoring Englishman in the history of the Italian Serie A.

The striker, who only joined AS Roma last summer, was on target twice for his side as they saw off Torino 3-0 in their final league game of the season.

His two goals were his 16th and 17th of the campaign, placing him ahead of Gerry Hitchens, who previously held the record for decades after recording 16 goals for Inter Milan in 1961-62.

How it happened

For his opening goal on Friday, the former Chelsea and Aston Villa man utilized a pass from Lorenzo Pellegrini to turn smartly and finish.

He then doubled his side’s lead from the penalty spot before half time, with Pellegrini also scoring a penalty in the second half to seal victory.

Roma will now finish sixth in the Serie A standings and will be in the Europa League next season.

Speaking on his feat, Abraham admitted it has been a good year for him.

“I hope to build on this year and hopefully we can finish with a trophy and it can be the perfect year."

He joined Roma for £34m from Chelsea last year, as he was deemed surplus to requirements at Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Roma’s season is not done yet as they still have a Europa Conference League final game against Feyenoord on Wednesday.

Tammy Abraham’s future

Meanwhile, Sports Brief earlier reported of the possibility of Tammy Abraham to make a return to the Premier League.

The 24-year-old has been a subject of interest from Arsenal who are seeking a center forward and has identified the former Chelsea player as a top target.

Roma manager, Jose Mourinho has now confirmed that if the attacker wants to leave, he will not stand in his way.
