Eintracht Frankfurt winger Ansgar Knauff has won the UEFA Europa League Young Player of the Season award.

The 20-year-old featured as Frankfurt defeated Glasgow Rangers 5-4 on penalties after the tie ended 1-1 at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium in Seville.

Knauff, who is on loan from Borussia Dortmund, played the entire duration of the game when they locked horns with the Scottish giants in the final of this season’s Europa League.

Highly-rated Knauff has now been named the best young player in the UEFA Europa League for the 2021/2022 season.

The Germany-born Ghanaian youngster played a crucial and pivotal role for Frankfurt to clinch their first European title in 42 years.

The last time Frankfurt won in Europe was in 1980 when they defeated rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach on away goals to win the UEFA Cup.

How Angsar Knauff performed in the Europa League this season

Knauff joined Frankfurt in January this year and played seven games in the Europa League, scoring two goals in the process.

Knauff played every minute in the knockout campaign for Frankfurt and registered his first goal in the competition against European powerhouse Barcelona.

He also scored a goal against West Ham United at the London Stadium in Frankfurt’s 2-1 on the road in the semi-finals 1st Leg.

The German-born Ghanaian also laid the crucial assist in the semi-final second leg against West Ham.

Knauff is set to stay at Frankfurt for one more season on loan from Borussia Dortmund after impressive season at the club.

Ansgar Knauff Helps Frankfurt Reach First European Final in Forty Two years

Sports Brief earlier reported that Eintracht Frankfurt star Ansgar Knauff featured in their UEFA Europa League clash against English side West Ham on Thursday.

The Ghana target provided an assist as his German side recorded a 1-0 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate in the semi-final of the UEFA Europa League.

Frankfurt will now lock horns against Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers in the final on May 18 in Seville, Spain.
