Nigerian international Victor Osimhen has reportedly agreed to join English Premier League club Newcastle United in a deal worth around €4.5million (about N3.4billion).
The Nation are reporting as per Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport that Osimhen has agreed to personal terms with the Magpies during the summer transfer window.
If the deal pulls through, the 23-year-old will further cement his status as the highest-earning Nigerian player in European football.
However, reports have it that Newcastle are still having negotiations with the Italian side Napoli over the player’s transfer fee which is said to be around €100 million.

FootballThe report further stated that Napoli are asking for €100 million because 30% of whatever figure realised over Osimhen’s transfer will go to his former club Lille.
Recall that La Gazzetta dello Sport had reported in April that the striker was open to joining the Arsenal, but only if they qualified for the Champions League.
However, the Premier League side is now two points behind Antonio Conte’s Tottenham in fourth place with just one game remaining.
Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen has paid tribute to the legacies of Diego Armando Maradona on social media after the Nigerian forward wore the Argentine’s jersey.
Maradona is arguably considered one of the best players to have played football in the 80s and early 90s and won the World Cup with Argentina in 1986.
According to Pulse Sports, the Argentine legend made his name in Europe when he played for Napoli between 1984 to 1991, scoring a total of 115 goals in a total of 251 appearances and also winning the league title twice.

FootballSports Brief earlier reported that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has described reports that Napoli controls his social media accounts as fake news.
The 23-year-old took to his Twitter page to debunk the story after Italian news outfit La Republica reported that they studied the 45-page contract Osimhen signed in 2020 after his move from Lille.
In their findings, Osimhen agreed as part of the image rights clauses to hand over the password of his social media accounts, a report the Nigerian striker has vehemently dismissed.
