Collins Shichenje has been unveiled officially as a new AIK Fotboll player. The Swedish top-flight club has given the former AFC Leopards midfielder a four-year deal.
Shichenje becomes the latest Kenyan player to move to the AIK. He now joins Kenyan internationals Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma and Henry Mejja Atola. The former has become a household name in the club after cementing the left-back position.
The club had revealed the signing of the 18-year-old on April 1st this year through a statement on their official website.
AIK Football has agreed with 18-year-old midfielder Sichenje Collins on a contract that extends until December 31st, 2026. Collins played last year for AFC Leopards Sc in Kenya. With Collins, we get a physically strong fit midfielder who has also shown in his club team that he can play as a central midfielder.
AIK made the official unveiling on their social media handles. He will don jersey number 29.
The midfielder has in the past had a short stint with Greece club PAOK before rejoining his native AFC Leopards. The Star Sports reports that he honed his skills while at the reputable Kakamega High school which is known for producing top talents.
Mozzart Sports also reports that AFC Leopards is set to get around 5 million Kenya shillings from the deal. Shichenje is capped with the national team Harambee Stars after making his debut on March 13, 2021.
AIK are currently first on the Allsvenskan league table with 19 points after nine rounds of matches.

Sports Brief also reported that Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga has been officially awarded the Golden Boot of the Qatar League. Olunga finished the season with 24 goals to scoop the award.
