  • Black Stars defender Alexander Djiku has opened up about his future in the French Ligue 1 with Strasbourg
  • The in-demand Ghana defender is attracting interest from clubs across Europe after another fine campaign
  • Alexander Djiku is reportedly on the radar of Spanish clubs Villareal and Sevilla as well as Marseille in France

Ghana defender Alexander Djiku has revealed that he is focused on his career with French Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg despite the growing interest for his services by other clubs.

The 27-year-old has popped up on the radar of several clubs in Europe, with Sevilla and Villareal in Spain favourites to get him in the summer transfer window.

However, the Black Stars centre-back disclosed after Strasbourg's victory over Clermont Foot that he is not in haste to make a decision about his future but suggested anything can happen in the window.

"I'm here, I still have a year on my contract, so for now I'm here. I'm going to prepare myself properly for next season and we'll see what happens," he said as quoted by madeinfoot.ouest-france.fr.

Alexander Djiku had another outstanding season with the Blue and Whites, scoring a goal in 30 Ligue 1 games this season as Strasbourg close in on a European place with a game remaining in the campaign.

The hard-tackling defender has been one of Ghana's best players since switching nationalities to represent the African country.

Djiku starred for the Black Stars at a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon early this year. He was also the top performer for the Black Stars in the World Cup play-offs against Nigeria as the four-time African champions returned to the Mundial.

Alexander Djiku has become the Ghanaian with the most appearances in Ligue 1

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana defender Alexander Djiku has become the Ghanaian with the most appearances in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday.

The Black Stars defender played a key role as Strasbourg edged Lens 1-0 to climb up to fourth place in the French top flight.

A neatly converted penalty by Ludovic Ajorque was enough to hand the all important victory for the home side at the Stade de la Meinau.
