Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng has retired from international football with the Gabonese national team, the player announced on Wednesday.

The Barcelona forward played 72 times for The Panthers scoring 30 goals and was captain of the team before his retirement.

In an emotional letter released by the forward, he thanked the Gabonese people for their support, insisting he cherished every moment he was in the coulours of the national team.

"After 13 years of pride in representing my country, I announce that I am ending my international career," he wrote in a letter as reported by Mundo Deportivo.
"I would like to thank the Gabonese people and all those who have supported me in the good like the bad times.
"I will keep a lot of good memories like the day I made my debut at romnisports, or the day I came back from Nigeria with the African Ballon d'Or.
"And sharing it with all the people was an unforgettable moment. I thank our President, his Excellency Ali Bongo Ondimba who has always supported the Panthers and has always worked for football to evolve in our country.
"I would also like to thank all my coaches, staff and the players that I have come across during this career.
"Finally, I thank my father who gave me the desire to do like him, hoping to have made him proud by wearing our colours."

Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng's final outing with the national team did not go well after he contracted COVID-19 ruling him out of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has stated clearly that the presence of his friends is making his adaptation at Spanish giants Barcelona smoother after joining the club from Arsenal.

The Gabonese striker has hit the ground running since making a move to the Camp Nou and has been netting goals for Barcelona to the delight of fans and manager Xavi.

However, it would be recalled that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made a controversial move to Barcelona after terminating his contract at Arsenal.
