FootballFormer Man United Midfielder Tells Club how To Get the Best out Of Erik Ten Hag
- Daley Blind has told Manchester United that the club is in good hands under incoming manager Erik Ten Hag
- Ten Hag left his Ajax job early to officially warm up for the United project, and is set to take over at the dugout from next season
- According to Daley Blind, the best way to ensure success is for the United board to back the new manager
Former Manchester United defender Daley Blind has offered the club some advice on how to get the best out of incoming manager Erik Ten Hag.
Ten Hag, after another successful stint with Ajax, is preparing to take over at Old Trafford once Ralf Rangnick’s interim spell comes to an end.
The Dutchman is rearing to go, and has reportedly already held a planning meeting to draw up his first plans for his new club.
Blind is very familiar with both Manchester United and Ten Hag. The defender, who can play in midfield as well, featured for United between 2014 and 2018 before leaving Old Trafford to link up with the incoming United boss at Ajax.
According to Blind, Ten Hag is a brilliant and ‘confident’ manager, but United needed to afford him some patience.
“Ten Hag is a great guy,” Blind told Dutch outlet Bij Andy in de Auto, via Metro.
“It's not an easy job, of course, but he doesn't run away from it either. He takes up the challenge.
“I am quite confident in him at Manchester United but he needs the board behind him. At Ajax he had [Edwin] van der Sar and [Marc] Overmars behind him whatever happened, also in bad times.”
During his four-year spell at the club, Blind saw United have three different managers.
From Ryan Giggs to Louis Van Gaal to Jose Mourinho, who was sacked in December 2018, Blind is aware of the lofty standards at the club, and the willingness to dismiss a manager who is seemingly not taking the club in the right direction.

Man City interested in Brighton star
Elsewhere, Manchester City are reportedly prepared to move in for Brighton’s Spanish talent Marc Cucurella.
Cucurella has taken the Premier League by aplomb after joining the Seagulls this season and has since become an integral member of Graham Potter’s side. Cucurella was recently voted as Brighton’s best player of the season.
Guardiola views Cucurella as a conventional left-back who can add balance to his team given his side is devoid of too many options at left back.
