Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed the salary demands made by Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.
The Frenchman is set to become a free agent this summer but Real Madrid are leading the race to land the Paris Saint Germain forward.
Mbappe’s future has been shrouded in a lot of expectations with the World Cup-winning star yet to make a decision on his future. PSG are still hopeful that they can convince him to extend his contract.
Barcelona showed interest interest in Mbappe in the past, but a move was never really on the cards given the club’s financial situation and salary margins.
According to Laporta, Mbappe wanted a massive salary of €50 million, which would have been impossible for Barcelona to afford in any manner.
"Mbappe was asking for €40m or €50m net per season. Not gross, net," Joan Laporta has told CatRadio, as per Gerard Romero, quoted by Marca.
"We will never consider signing a player who asks for €50m net. And then they don't win the Champions League. Some players ask a lot but end up not winning the Champions League," he also said.
Mbappe's mother denies that her son has extended his PSG contract
Meanwhile, Mbappe’s mother Fayza Lamari refuted claims that her son had extended his PSG contract.
Rumours had swirled around that Mbappe had agreed to a two-year extension deal with the French champions.
Ms Lamari was however quick to admonish those claims, reiterating that her son was yet to decide on his next club
