- Osimhen who has played just two seasons for the Partenope is now Napoli’s 44th all-time scorer overtaking Petisso Bruno Pesaola and Claudio Belluci
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is now Napoli’s 44th all-time scorer after the Nigerian international bagged his 28th goal for the club since he arrived in the summer of 2020, Soccernet reports.
The youngster found the back of the net in Napoli’s 3-0 win over Genoa when he opened the scoring in the 32nd minute inside the Diego Amando Maradona Stadium.
It was his 14th league goal of the ongoing campaign which takes his tally in all competitions this season to 18 thereby becoming the club’s 44th all-time top scorer.
Osimhen overtook former stars Petisso Bruno Pesaola and Claudio Belluci on the list as he continues to enjoy a successful individual season.
It could have been more as the 23-year-old missed eight games earlier in the season due to a cheekbone fracture after colliding in-air against Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar.
The Partenopei won just three times in eight games in his absence and have won nine times in the fifteen games since his return from injury.
Many have blamed his long injury spell for Napoli’s failure to mount a lengthened title challenge in the Serie A this season.
Manchester United initiate contact with Osimhen
Meanwhile, English Premier League giants Manchester United are said to have made a contact with Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as the Red Devils continue their search for another striker.

Osimhen denies reports that Napoli operate his social media accounts
Sports Brief earlier reported that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has described reports that Napoli controls his social media accounts as fake news.
The 23-year-old took to his Twitter page to debunk the story after Italian news outfit La Republica reported that they studied the 45-page contract Osimhen signed in 2020 after his move from Lille.
In their findings, Osimhen agreed as part of the image rights clauses to hand over the password of his social media accounts, a report the Nigerian striker has vehemently dismissed.
