Manchester City Fined €14,000 by UEFA for Improper Conduct in Champions League Game Against Atletico Madrid

UEFA has clamped down hard on English Premier League side, Manchester City over the behaviour of the club’s players in their second-leg Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid.

The European football governing body had charged Man City for improper conduct after their players clashed with their opponents during and after their quarter-final game.

According to a report via Sports Illustrated, the English Premier League champions will now be subject to a fine of €14,000 for their role in the fracas.

UEFA also confirmed via its document that Atletico Madrid will be subject to no fine or sanction as the Spanish club were exonerated by UEFA's Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary Body.

Manchester City advanced to the semi-finals thanks to Kevin De Bruyne's goal in the 69th minute of the first leg at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola defends Man City players

Meanwhile, Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has defended his players after their character and mentality was questioned following their Champions League exit by Patrice Evra.

According to ESPN, Guardiola disagreed with the former Manchester United defender’s comments while calling out the Frenchman during his playing days.

Manchester City failed to reach the final for the second year in a row after a late collapse at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid.

Guardiola makes final decision on Man City future

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Pep Guardiola has no intentions of renewing his contract at Manchester City until his current deal is up.

The Spaniard is in no rush to renew his deal at Manchester City as he closes in on a fourth Premier League title in five years with the club.

Already, Manchester City is Guardiola’s longest project as a manager, as he is heading into six years since he signed his first deal at the club.
