Former Super Eagles star Benedict Akwuegbu has confirmed his readiness to contest in the next NFF general elective congress with the target of replacing Amaju Pinnick as the president.
Benedict Akwuegbu who played for the Super Eagles at the 2002 World Cup made it clear that he has the credentials to replace Amaju Pinnick in the next election.
Amaju Pinnick has been the president of the Nigerian Football Federation for the past eight years and another election for a new board is expected come up in September.
According to the report on Complete Sports, Benedict Akwuegbu explained that his target will be on how to help the Super Eagles win the World Cup if he should become the president.
Benedict Akwuegbu's reaction about NFF presidency
“Aside playing the game at the top level – because playing in the World Cup is the utmost career height of every player – I have to equip myself academically for the coming years.
“When I was playing, I knew that one day, it might get to a point where one would have to think of life after football as a player.
“In that case, I decided to upgrade my academic status which I believe, will come handy if I’m entrusted with the leadership of the NFF.''

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Nigeria Football Federation was ordered to pay the sum of $1,045,000 (about N 433,873,550.00) to German coach Gernot Rohr with immediate effect.
