FootballAntonio Conte Issues Brutal Response to Klopp After Criticism Over Tactics
- Conte has told Jurgen Klopp to focus on his own club, days after the German criticized Tottenham’s tactics
- Liverpool were frustrated to a 1-1 draw by the North London club on Saturday in a blow to their quadruple hopes
- Klopp said after the game that the tactical setup of their opponents was “not cool”
Antonio Conte has responded to Jurgen Klopp’s claims that the Italian’s game plan on Saturday, May 7 was “not so cool”.
The North London club earned a crucial point at Anfield as the two sides played out an entertaining 1-1 draw to dent Liverpool’s title hopes.
Heung Min Son fired Spurs into the lead, but Liverpool fought back through Luis Diaz, but could not find a winner as they fell three points behind Manchester City, who beat Newcastle 5-0 the same day.
After the match, a visibly frustrated Klopp did not hold back in his criticism of Conte’s tactics, as he claimed the Italian’s defense and counter-attacking style was “not cool”.
Klopp also aimed a cheeky dig at Tottenham’s struggles this season and the fact that the North London club was fifth on the log.
“I wish we could have won this game, but with all the praise for Tottenham – they sit back. They drew against us, got results against Man City and Chelsea. The game plan works for these games but they are still fifth. Time wasting, these kind of things, it makes it easier for them. We wanted three points, that’s not so cool.” He said.
On Tuesday afternoon, Conte offered an interesting rejoinder to his opposite number concerning his tactics.
“Anyone who knows me, knows very well I want to win every game. I try to transfer this thought to my players,” Conte told reporters as cited on Football London.
“For sure, when I stay in one team, in a club, my aspiration and desire is to fight to win the title.

FootballTo win the league in England is not easy. Guardiola said Liverpool won one league in 30 years, maybe. It shows it’s not simple.
“Maybe sometimes it’s easier to win Champions League or Europa League than the league in England, where you have to face monsters.
“Focus on your team, not opponents”
Conte went further by saying Klopp should try to focus on his own team, instead of what opposition was doing.
“Jurgen is intelligent, he was a bit frustrated after the game. At the same time, for us, for a top coach, it’s important to be focused on your team, not your opponents. To be focused on your opponents, means you want to find an excuse or ability because it means something in your job was wrong.”
