Yet Another Ex Al Ahly Player Calls for Al Ahly Coach Pitso Mosimane to Be Fired Despite His Success in Egypt

• This time, former Red Devils former forward Mohamed Fadl has urged the club to not renew Mosimane's contract
• This is is despite the South African being on the verge of leading the Egyptian giants to a third consecutive CAF Champions League title

No one would blame Pitso Mosimane if he believed that there was a cabal of former Al Ahly players who want him gone from the club pronto.

In recent months, several ex-Red Devils players have made utterances through Egyptian media calling for Mosimane's sacking for the most mundane and baseless reasons.

Legendary Pharaohs and Ahly defender Wael Gomaa, quoted by Soccer Laduma, said recently that Mosimane's game management was not up to scratch. Last week as reported in Kick Off, another star in the form of Taha Ismail disingenuously criticised the Mosimane for Ahly falling behind rivals Zamalek early in the Egyptian Premier League.

Now, as reported on KingFUT, former player Mohamed Fadl said that his contract must not be extended when the time comes. This is despite Mosimane on the path to leading Africa's most successful continental outfit to a third consecutive CAF Champions League title.

Fadl said:

"I think Mosimane is a good coach, but I also think Al Ahly should reconsider extending his contract. I hope Al Ahly hire [Hervé] Renard or [Vahid] Halilhodžić and I know the club can bring in such names just like when they signed [Rene] Weiler a while ago.

“But to his credit, Mosimane has won trophies and maybe that’s why Al Ahly should renew his contract because there is not enough time right now to bring in someone else. They could extend his contract by just one year but certainly not more than that."

In his time in Cairo, Mosimane has won the Champions League twice, the CAF Super Cup twice, an Egyptian cup, also leading Ahly to two bronze medal finishes at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane is never comfortable in the hot seat at the Egyptian giants.

As reported by Sports Brief, despite an impressive haul of trophies since joining the club back in September 2020, any missteps by Mosimane are scrutinised heavily and criticised excessively.

This was the case this past weekend for the under-pressure coach.
