  • Baroka FC missed the opportunity to pounce on Moroka Swallows' stumble yesterday and take a step away from automatic relegation
  • Bakgaga had to settle for a 2-2 draw with Chippa United to remain rooted at the bottom of the DStv Premiership table, an identical result to Swallows' against SuperSport United
  • The Chilli Boys will also be disappointed with the result as the still remained in the relegation whirlpool

Another unusually high-scoring match occurred this weekend in the DStv Premiership.

Chippa United and Baroka FC played out a highly entertaining draw at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha.

Riaan Hamanub opened the scoring for Chippa United, before Dan Ndlovu equalised for Baroka FC in the 75th minute. Decide Chauke looked to have stolen the game for Bakgaga in the 83rd minute, but Thokozani Sekotlong's 91st-minute goal saved a point for the Chilli Boys.

The visitors desperately needed a victory to move closer to Moroka Swallows in 15th place, but remain rooted at the foot of the table with 22 points. The hosts moved another step towards safety mathematically, remaining in 13th place with 28 points.

Next on the menu for United will be the Dube Birds next week Saturday. At the same time Baroka will take on SuperSport United.

DStv Premiership match wrap: Supersport United and Moroka Swallows entertain in high scoring draw (highlights)

SuperSport United and Moroka Swallows proved that the DStv Premiership can entertain with a thrilling 2-2 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Tshwane.

As reported on Sports Brief, goals from Kegan Johannes and Iqraam Rayners for Matsatsantsa and Ruzaigh Gamildien with Dillon Solomons for the Dube Birds set up a four-goal thriller.

The draw did not benefit Swallows as they remained in the relegation mire, while United missed the chance to entrench themselves in the top eight.
