- A win for Liverpool will see them go top of the table, at least temporarily at the expense of Manchester City
Liverpool welcome Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Saturday, May 7 as their unrelenting quest for a quadruple continues.
As the season meanders to a close, both sides go into the game needing three points for completely different reasons.
For Jurgen Klopp’s side, they want to sneak back into the top of the Premier League with a win at the expnse of a wounded Manchester City, who recently slumped out of the Champions League.
Tottenham also need the three points to further their top four ambitions, and a win will help them climb above Arsenal, at least temporarily.
Match preview
Liverpool go into the game as the in-form team of Europe, having lost only once in 29 outings this year.
The Reds are also quite formidable at home, having gone on a 21-game unbeaten run, and winning with an aggregate score line of 52-9 across those fixtures.
With that in mind, it is also kind to note that Antonio Conte is not used to defeat at Anfield, and has clawed 1-1 draws twice during his two previous visits to the stadium.
Matches are fast running out, and there is little margin for error for both sides.
Team News, Liverpool
Luckily for Jurgen Klopp, his side came from the trip to Villareal with no fresh injury concerns.
As it stands, Roberto Firmino remains the only major doubt for the clash, but Liverpool still have a healthy string of attacking talent to choose from.
Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane are almost certain to lead the attack, but the question will be who will join them in the front three between Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.
