Ghana's Black Princesses to face USA, Japan and the Netherlands at 2022 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup

Ghana's U-20 women's national team, Black Princesses, have been drawn in Group D of the 2022 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The 2022 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup draw was held on Thursday, May 5, 2022.

The draw ceremony was held at the Teatro Nacional in San José in Costa Rica, the host country of the tournament.

The Black Princesses have been pitted in a tough group against holders Japan, United State of America, and the Netherlands.

Ben Fokuo's side will play against USA in their opening group game before taking on Japan and the Netherlands in the subsequent group D matches.

Japan won the last edition in 2018 while the United State of America are the most successful country in the tournament with three trophies.

The Black Princesses advanced to the World Cup after beating Zambia, Uganda and Ethiopia to book their sixth appearance.

This year’s tournament set to be staged in Costa Rica will commence on August 10, 2022, and will end on August 28, 2022.

Black Princesses Take a Giant Step Towards World Cup in Costa Rica

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the Black Princesses of Ghana are on the verge of another World Cup appearance after defeating Ethiopia in the first leg of the final round of qualifiers.

The Ghana U20 team recorded a 3-0 victory in Addis Ababa to ensure they are in charge ahead of the second leg in a fortnight time.

In photos posted on Twitter, spotted by Sports Brief, the players and technical team are seen celebrating the victory.
