- Evidence Makgopa will be looking to help Baroka FC avoid relegation with his three remaining games at the club
Orlando Pirates are looking to boost their attacking options as they prepare for next season.
The Buccaneers have struggled in front of goal this season, notching up only nine wins and 13 draws in the DStv Premiership. They have fared better in the CAF Confederation Cup but relied on defender Bandile Shandu for a lot of the goals.
It's now being reported that Pirates will welcome proven goal scorer, Evidence Makgopa, into the fold. Soccer Laduma noted that Makgopa was signed by the Buccaneers at the start of the season but then immediately loaned back to Baroka for the 2021/22 campaign.
With the side bottom of the DStv Premiership and possibly playing their football in the GladAfrica Championship next season, Makgopa will be called back to the Pirates squad.
Currently, Pirates have attacking options in the form of Kwame Peprah, Gabadinho Mhango, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Terrence Dzvukamanja, and Zakhele Lepasa. Mhango’s future at the club remains in doubt after a falling out with the technical team and Peprah has been the chosen option upfront for the Sea Robbers.
Makgopa has three games left this season with Baroka and will be looking to drag them out of the relegation zone. The club boosted their survival hopes by beating Golden Arrows last night, Sowetan LIVE reported.
Coach Vincent Kobola praised his team after the victory and admitted that every game going forward was like a final, IOL noted. Baroka still have to play Chippa United, Maritzburg United, and SuperSport United. The side are two points behind Swallows and five points behind TS Galaxy who occupy 14th place.

Baroka FC are not going down without a fight. Baroka beat Lamontville Golden Arrows by a single goal to give themselves a fighting chance with three games to go in the DStv Premiership, Sports Brief earlier reported.
Bonginkosi Makume scored from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute to give his side the win. Golden Arrows had double the amount of shots on target that Baroka had but could not find an equaliser.
However, Makume’s goal proved to be the deciding factor as Baroka hung on for a win, their first under new coach Vincent Kobola. Baroka are now two points behind Swallows FC in 15th place on the table.
