Eintracht Frankfurt edge out West Ham United, takes slight lead into the second leg of Europa League semifinal

West Ham United and Eintracht Frankfurt produced a brilliant display of attacking European football, worthy of a semi-final. The two sides met in the first leg of their semi-final clash in the Europa League, with Frankfurt travelling to London for the tie.

The visitors didn’t wait long to get the action underway, opening the scoring in the first minute. Ansgar Knauff broke the deadlock on 52 seconds, heading home from a beautifully flighted cross, Sports Brief earlier reported.

West Ham were stunned but didn’t let the goal ruin their game plan. The home side pushed forward and came close to equalising in the 14th minute when Jared Bowen’s low shot hit the post and bounced clear.
