While the Frenchman has not been involved too much in the Red Devils' disappointing campaign, he appears to have been keen on taking note of individual performances.

Speaking on who has been United's best player this season, the versatile defender named De Gea for the recognition despite the Spaniard keeper being part of a team that managed just 10 clean sheets in 47 games this term.

According to Varane, the Man United shot-stopper was the standout player for him, overlooking Ronaldo who has scored an eyewatering 18 Premier League goals.

"I agree. David is having an amazing season. He helped us a lot. I think he has the experience and he’s an amazing goalkeeper," Varane noted as quoted by Metro UK.

Raphael Varane backs Erk ten Hag to succeed at Old Trafford

Reacting to Man United's move to appoint Erik ten Hag as the permanent manager, Varane said:

"I’m looking forward to working with him. I think he has good experience and he’s a good person to work in this club," the Frenchman said.

Ten Hag is set to officially take charge at Old Trafford at the end of the season when interim boss, Ralf Rangnick, steps down.
